Working as Maintenance/Driver for Mark Warner is an exciting and interesting way to put your vocational skills to the test. We have twelve hotels across the Alps, one of which you will be responsible for keeping in good working order. The role varies hugely on a day to day basis. One day you are changing light bulbs or shovelling snow, the next day you are trying to fix the hot water supply before our guests return home from skiing for the day. The skilled side of the role is mainly basic property maintenance. A qualification in plumbing, electrics or carpentry is a help but not necessarily a requirement.
Alongside your maintenance skills you may in some companies be expected to be the driver. This could involve heading down to the town in the valley to pick up supplies or you could be popping off to the medical centre to pick up an injured guest. In some hotels you will be taking the children to ski school with the nannies.
The cliche phase “work hard, play hard” sums up a season all too clearly. You will be working like crazy but every free moment will be yours to use as you wish. Almost every day you will get a chance to go up on the hill and make the most of the mountain. From hitting the park to exploring the back country bowls or donning the ski’s for the first time. Whatever your level of skiing or snowboarding there is plenty to do and you won’t be bored for a moment. The biggest perk of this position is the amount of time you get to spend on the mountain.
Once the sun goes down there is still plenty to do in resort. The bars start the evening with Après ski, with live bands and promotions where you can soak up the last of the sun before the night kicks off. There is always a huge selection of bars to visit, and plenty of young like minded people to get to know in resort. One thing is for sure; you will never get bored working in a ski resort!
When looking through applications we are always looking for candidates to stand out. We are looking to see that applicants have taken time and care over their application, checking spellings and put some effort into answering the questions. A good application will show all relevant employment history and will be thorough. Take an extra five minutes to ensure you have fully expanded upon your duties and skills for each previous job. Provide accurate references with a name and address.
Ensure you tell us about yourself. We need employees who really want to do a ski season, you don’t need to be a skier or boarder, but you do need to be keen and enthusiastic. Take the time to read through the job description. You will be able to pick out key words and requirements for the position.
Should you successfully complete your winter season we offer plenty of opportunities to progress onto a summer season with us in one of our resorts across the Mediterranean!
"One thing is for sure; you will never get bored working in a ski resort!"
