Some of Australia's ski resorts have already opened following a storm that dumped up to 30cm of snow.
Perisher is opening on Saturday, with the money taken for lift tickets over the weekend being donated to the local community. Wednesday should see the opening of Thredbo, and in Victoria, Mount Buller is looking at opening early.
This sounds like ski season staff working 'down under' is in for a treat this season!

A new television campaign promoting Australian ski resorts, has caused controversy by encouraging people to call in sick and hit the slopes.
The advert, which can be seen below, has been described by some business groups as 'fresh and innovative', and others as 'disappointing and irresponsible'. However, it's getting a lot of attention!
Of course, as we all know, the best way to enjoy the snow and keep your job, is to get a snow job!

When you're working in resort, wouldn't it be great to know where your friends were? Well, now you can, with a new app called Snowciety!
This recently launched iPhone app is packed with features ideal for seasonaires, including piste maps for resorts around the world, and the ability to track your friends in real time while they're on the slopes. The app will also keep track of the amount of time you've spent skiing, the distance covered and your speed, and allow you to share this information with your friends - so now you'll really know who got the best time on that red run!
Currently the app is available free for a limited time from the iTunes store.
