Show Off Your Skills On Film

26th June 2012

If you're a British skier, and have been showing off your skills on film, or a budding film maker with a heap of ski footage, you could be part of the 3rd 'Britain's Got Skiers' film.

Entries are now open for submissions of short films featuring freestyle and free ride sessions in locations ranging from dry slopes to glaciers and indoor domes to the backcountry. The best entries will be selected at the end of August and available to view online. The clips chosen to be included in the film will be announced weekly during September, with the completed film being released at the London Ski Show in October, and available to be seen on the Ellis Brigham website.

As well as the fame and adulation you will naturally receive if your edit is chosen, there are also prizes up for grabs including £500 for the best edit, and GoPro camera packs.

Over A Metre Of Snow Forecast In Argentina

12th June 2012

After Australia and New Zealand enjoyed heavy snow falls over the past few weeks, it now looks like Argentina will be enjoying plenty of snow for the start of their season.

Las Lenas are planning to open this weekend, and are also preparing for a snow storm that is expected to dump over a metre of the white stuff on the resort over the next six days. Over the boarder in Chile, Portillo and The Three Valleys (El Colorado, Valle Nevado and La Parva), are also bracing themselves for heavy snow falls in the coming days.

With the southern hemisphere gearing up for what looks like a great season, there are going to be plenty of resort workers in the northern hemisphere turning green with envy! Oh well, you can always get a job there next year.

New Zealand Gears Up For Start Of Ski Season

6th June 2012

Ski resorts in New Zealand are enjoying plenty of snow in the run up to the start of the ski season.

Mount Hutt is due to open on Saturday and a recent snow storm has dumped over half a metre of the white stuff over the mountain, and it was still coming down this afternoon.

Coronet Peak is also planning to open this weekend and had over 10cm of snow overnight, as well as 116 snow guns blasting away. The Remarkables have also been enjoying heavy snow, with 8cm falling in the latest snow storm, ensuring the resort will be opening next weekend.

All this snow has fired up the ski resort workers, who according to the Mt Hutt Ski Area Manager, are "stoked knowing that it's 'all go' from Saturday".
